FAQ

Questions

Does Dip-Zip contain nicotine?

No. Dip-Zip contains distilled water, glycerin, and sodium carbonate. It adds nothing to your tobacco — it changes the pH so the nicotine already in there becomes absorbable.

Will it change the taste?

Not meaningfully. You'll notice an ammonia smell while it works, which fades. The tobacco itself tastes like the tobacco.

Why does it smell like ammonia?

Raising the pH releases ammonia that was already present in the tobacco as ammonium salts. It's ordinary acid-base chemistry and it's expected. It off-gasses and goes away.

How long does a bottle last?

Over 500 drops. At 2–4 drops per pinch that's roughly 125–250 treated pinches, or about three to four cans' worth. Treating whole cans instead, one bottle handles about four cans.

How much am I actually saving?

About $3.95 per can treated. If a can costs you $13, Dip-Zip turns it into roughly $52 worth of dip. Three cans plus one bottle costs $53.99 and gives you what twelve cans would — around $102 saved.

Will it work with my brand?

It works with any moist snuff or dipping tobacco. The chemistry doesn't care about the brand — all of them sit near pH 8.

Does it work on chewing tobacco?

Better than on anything else. Chewing tobacco isn't alkalinized at the factory at all, so it has the furthest to climb. See How to Use.

Does it work on Zyn, ON, or Rogue?

No. Those aren't tobacco — they're purified nicotine on a filler, already pH-adjusted. There's nothing for Dip-Zip to do, and it may irritate your mouth. Don't use it on them.

What about tobacco pouches — Grizzly, Copenhagen pouches, snus?

Yes, those are real tobacco and it works. Three approaches on the How to Use page.

Is a bigger dose better?

No, and this matters. Two to four drops on a quarter-size pinch is the whole design. If you keep your pinch the same size and add Dip-Zip, you're just taking more nicotine — building tolerance, not saving money.

Is Dip-Zip safe?

Dip-Zip is a pH 11 alkaline solution. Keep it out of your eyes and away from children. Discontinue use if it irritates your mouth or gums. And to be direct: Dip-Zip does not make tobacco safer. Smokeless tobacco causes cancer, gum disease and tooth loss, and nicotine is addictive.

Does the pH hurt my mouth?

The concentration is tuned to move a pinch to the top of the nicotine curve without more alkalinity than that requires. A few drops distributed through tobacco is very different from the concentrate. If you do get irritation, stop using it.

How do I store it?

Room temperature, cap on, upright, out of reach of children and pets.

Who makes it?
